Most of us don't realize the power our body has in determining the way we feel. Our feelings - whether happy or sad - are usually determined by our daily experiences. Your experiences at work, uni or at home determine how you feel. I think it's quite safe to say that no one wants to feel sad or depressed...
So here's a quick fix to your gloomy problem.
Try experimenting with your body movements to see if it has an effect on the way you feel. Try forcing yourself to smile or try punching the air like a crazy person. You'll realize that your body movements have a direct effect on the way you feel! Smile and you'll suddenly feel happier. Jump and you'll suddenlty feel lighter! :) Some people say, that changing your body movements on purpose is just being fake. My advice is, if you don't wanna feel happy don't change your body movements. However, if you want to get out of depression or sadness and can't find a way then the right body movement just might do the trick!
Here's something that I know works for me and I'm sure will work for you.
When I first started my training firm I went for a lot of appointments to meet corporate HR Managers. I was 20 and the thought of meeting seasoned managers who were probably my dad's age scared the living daylights out of me. So when I felt less confident, I made a small change to my body.
I realized that when I didn't feel confident I stooped and crouched my shoulders a bit. So when I needed that added confidence, I simply made it a point to look up, arch my back, and pull my shoulders back (just a tiny tiny bit). No one noticed the difference in my body but it made me feel great. It made me feel confident!
Try it!
