breathe

God I hate accounts...

The due date to submit my company accounts is almost up so I'm working like a dog to get it all sorted. Spent yesterday trying to make sense of my ledgers and ended up stressed and bitchy as hell! Started snapping at the people around me, drove my car wrecklessly, wolfed down my meals, eye balled crying babies and was a general pain to be around.

So half way through the monstrosity I decided that this couldn't go on. I mean - i was acting like a real bitch. The accounts had taken over and I had no control over myself. So I tried something I had read in this meditation book.

I put the accounts aside for five minutes, locked myself up in my room, closed my eyes, leant back in my chair and....

I took a Deeeeeep breath.

and exhaled slowlyyyyy.

After a few deep breaths and long exhalations, I suddenly felt my limbs relax, my neck wasn't so tense and my eyes felt lighter.

I realized that breathing had a huge impact on the way I felt. And now that I think about it when I'm pissed I take short breaths and when I'm relaxed I take deep long breaths.

So I did my breathing exercise for a good one minute and what do ya know - I felt like a champ after it!

Try it for yourself the next time something stresses you out! :)

  1. Mate, that's why you get your accountant to do it. They have no soul and emotions, and therefore do not display any stress.

  2. i got my ACCOUNTANT to do it! But now I'm preparing it for the auditor. And like all good auditors she's bugging me for bills and such to prove stuff! I have a friendlier tax man! haha.

  4. Why do you need to be audited?

Anyways, I look forward to seeing the Thambi in London soon. Hopefully this accountant won't bore him...

And I will see you in June!
