Let it be, let it be...
As the story goes, one day this farmer's horse ran away. His neighbor hears of his bad news and comes over to commiserate. "I hear that you lost your horse. That is bad news and bad luck."
"Well, who knows?" said the farmer, "Maybe it is and maybe it isn't."
Well, the next day the farmer's horse returns to his stable, but it has brought along a drove of wild horses it has befriended and who make themselves at home.
The neighbor across the way can't believe what he hears about his friend. He decides to come over and congratulate him.
"This is such goodness," he says. "Well, who knows," said the farmer, "Maybe it is and maybe it isn't."
The next day the farmer's son decided to ride one of the new wild horses, to break it in. As luck would have it, the son was thrown from the horse and broke his leg.
Of course, upon hearing this sad news, their neighbor came over to offer condolences. "This is such sad thing," he said. "Your son has broken his leg. This is bad news." "Well, who knows," said the farmer. "Maybe it is and maybe it isn't."
There were more well wishes and commiseration from his neighbor. The farmer offers this Taoist wisdom, "Who knows what is good and bad?"
On the following day soldiers came by commandeering and army. They took sons from most of the surrounding farms, but because the farmer's son had a broken leg, he could not go and was spared. And well, maybe it was good news and maybe it wasn't.

The Loser Syndrome!
A lot of people I know believe that they need to work hard to achieve their goals. They’ve been taught to study hard, get a good degree, apply for a good job and to work their butts off so that they can grab the next office promotion. I guess that’s not a bad way to live...
The problem is I look around and realize that this ‘work hard’ formula isn’t working for everybody. There are a lot of people out there who are busting their butts only to end up disappointed with their lives. They're not making the money they deserve nor are they getting the appreciation they want.
So I propose a concept called the ‘The Loser Syndrome’ to shed some light on this matter.
I believe hard work is definitely necessary but if you are a victim of the Loser syndrome then all the hard work in the world can’t help you!
The Loser Syndrome is very easily explained. Over the years we’ve all developed a little bit of a loser mentality within us. Some have it more prominently than others but most of us have at least a little bit of it. The loser syndrome is evident in you whenever you think you can’t do something or if you think you’re not good enough to do something.
If you’ve caught yourself wanting something but ended up not pursuing it, if you’ve ever thought you’re not ready to take up an opportunity or if you ever felt you were not good enough to compete for something you’re a victim of the Loser Syndrome. Simply put - if you don't believe in yourself - that's a sign of the Loser Syndrome.
So why is it we have this Loser Syndrome?
The reason is simple. Somewhere in our past we had parents, teachers or friends who told us we couldn’t do something or that we weren’t good enough. They weren't trying to be mean! They just didn't want us to get hurt. Unfortunately while they were 'looking out' for us they unwillingly planted a lil bit of self doubt in our heads. They made us question whether or not we really were good enough...
When we were young we very quickly learned how to judge ourselves in our pursuits and when we failed an exam or made a mistake we thought lesser of ourselves. Our parents and society put so much of weight on how well we did in our exams so much so that we started to believe that how well we did on a test paper determined how good we were in real life! All those years of negative judgement slowly developed an underlying belief within ourselves that we were in fact – not good enough.
So when you suffer from the Loser Syndrome all the hard work you put in goes to waste becomes the truth is - deep down inside, you don’t believe you’re gonna make it. You don’t believe you’re good enough or strong enough to be the one who makes it to the top! You work hard but deep within you, you don’t believe you have what it takes to succeed. Nothing’s gonna change unless you get rid of the Loser Syndrome for good!
How do you get rid of the little bit of loser syndrome in you?
Small things like the poster and your positive statement help because it sends positive inputs that help you built new positive beliefs about yourself. You don’t realize it but every time you look at that poster with your dream on it and say your positive statement you get rid of a little bit of your loser syndrome. Looking at your poster helps you belief that what’s on that poster is actually possible. Saying you've achieved your dream out loud works just the same. You start convincing yourself that you're indeed strong enough and good enough! Both the poster and the positive statement help you believe that YOU CAN ACTUALLY DO IT!
And when you believe deep down inside that YOU CAN ACTUALLY DO IT - nothing in this world can stop you!
The next time you think you want to switch jobs, take on a project, confront a colleague or even start your own business ask yourself whether you're gonna let the loser syndrome take control or are you gonna LIVE YOUR LIFE and be all you can be?
